Holguin

Holguin

Holguin is located in the eastern part of Cuba. This tourist destination is distinguished by its authenticity, diversity and high level of sustainability. It also stands out for its picturesque relieves of great scenic value. It shows a set of tangible elements, loaded with cultural symbols and resulting in a platform for dialogue not only between cultures but also between man and nature. To the west of Holguin city is a vantage point, Loma de la Cruz, which offers wonderful views over the city and across the province. Many are the places of great historical, cultural, anthropological, and tourist interest and landscapes that the region treasures, where the Admiral Christopher Columbus, dazzled by his charms, exclaimed: “... this it is the most beautiful land that human eyes have ever seen.” Holguín has given outstanding musicians to the country, such as Faustino Oramas (El Guayabero) and the outstanding pianist Frank Fernández. In this land, the Son is interpreted in a very peculiar way. There is also tenth-verse peasants' poetry as a very ingrained tradition, brought by the people from the Canary Islands that settled down in this place during different migration waves, and whose maximum manifestation takes place during the Annual Romerías de Mayo or the Party for the Ibero- American Culture. The extraordinarily crystalline waters and white sand of the north coast demonstrate the excellence of its beaches. For lovers of nature, the sunset on these beaches is a unique formulation that contrasts with the progressive predominance of green vegetation over the blue of the sea. For those who appreciate the art and science of maritime navigation, the northern coast of Holguín offers a space to discover the beautiful coral reefs. If you visit the "most beautiful land", plan your days well to always leave time to visit the cultural centres and discover the joyful life of this town.
